Neil Clarke

Neil’s work is informed by a lo-fi sensibility, encompassing tableaux constructed with primitive, hands-on techniques (the Blue Peter effect), or, more recently, the physical removal of elements from the surface of images.

His work incorporates interests which have lasted since childhood; for example, the use of various toys – dinosaurs and monsters – as B-movie/Godzilla substitutes, while his cut-out series was informed by the transience of childhood memories, in regard to holidays and days out.

Despite embracing a variety of approaches, Neil’s work is consistent in its sense of intimacy, deriving both from its personal motivation and small-scale construction.
